A BG Group company operates the Atlantic Field and the WAGES (Western Area Gas Evacuation System) infrastructure as part of the Atlantic Cromarty Joint Development with its co-venturer, Hess Limited. Hess operate the Cromarty Field.
The WAGES infrastructure has been constructed to evacuate the products from the Atlantic and Cromarty Fields, and consist of a 12 inch flowline and 4 inch control umbilical from the Cromarty sub-sea completion to the Atlantic Manifold, where the products combine with those from two Atlantic subsea completions. From the manifold a single 80km 16-inch pipeline and a 4 inch MEG line run directly to shore, creating , at the time of construction, the longest subea tie-back directly to shore in the UK sector of the North Sea.The subsea facilities include a mid line tee in the WAGES pipeline and tie in points at the Atlantic Manifold to cater for possible future discoveries and third party business in the area.
The sub-sea facilities are operated remotely from the control room at the SAGE terminal at St Fergus, operated by ExxonMobil, via a satellite link to the Shell Goldeneye Platform and then via a 32 kilometre electro-hydraulic umbilical to the Atlantic and Cromarty subsea wells.
The facilities have a design capacity of 230 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscf/d).
To date, no third party arrangements have been entered into for use of the WAGES infrastructure.
