Our approach to sustainability

The context

Sustainability for BG Group is about the conditions for long-term value creation. The BG Group Business Principles define our standards of ethical conduct. They also set out the standards we set for environmental protection and for our relationships with our employees and the communities among which we work. We measure ourselves against these standards.

The Group believes that operating in accordance with its Business Principles is the essential foundation for sustainable long-term performance and value creation.

Delivery of the Group’s business objectives depends on the development of positive relationships with a wide range of key stakeholders, including governments, communities, partners, contractors, employees and customers. Sustainable business success over the long term is dependent on a strong alignment between the Group’s ambitions and the objectives of our stakeholders.

Our approach to these relationships is based on our commitment to work in accordance with our Business Principles in all aspects of our operations. These Principles, set out here, are a key reference point for investment decision making, project development and operational management. Implementation is overseen at Board level by the Sustainability Committee.
