Accessibility

Accessibility is important to BG

BG is committed to producing a website for the widest possible audience, including users who have disabilities. We have developed this site to ensure compliance with priority level one criteria of W3C’s Web Accessibility Initiative, and achieved many additional level two and three criteria. To aid visually impaired users, both font sizes and colours can be altered throughout the website to suit viewing preference.

Font sizes

Visually impaired users may wish to use a larger font size. To alter the font size throughout the BG website, in Internet Explorer, select 'View', then 'Text Size', and choose your preferred size. In Netscape select View, then Text Zoom, and choose your preferred percentage size.

Colours and stylesheets

While we have tried to make the pages of this site as clear and readable as possible, some users may wish to alter the colour of the pages or import their own stylesheets to facilitate viewing.

To achieve this, in Internet Explorer select 'Tools', then 'Internet options', and then 'Accessibility'. You can then select from the three colour formatting checkboxes, or choose the 'User style sheet' option.

In Netscape select 'Edit', then 'Preferences' and then 'Appearance'. You will then be given the choice to specify your own colours and fonts.

Accessible charting

Accessible versions of our server-side charts for the visually impaired and colour blind are available. Essentially they are constructed to deliver the chart in a new larger format or with a colour corrected colour palette. We also supply an accessible alternative to the comparative share charting tool, the Dynamic share price table designed to be navigated with voice browsers/screen readers.
