BG Group today announced the appointment of Dave Roberts
as Executive Vice President and Managing Director, Eastern
Hemisphere.
Dave joins BG Group from Chevron Texaco Corp., where
he was the Adviser to the Vice Chairman of the Board,
primarily focused on corporate strategy and the competitive
face of Chevron Texaco in the market.
Speaking today, Chief Executive Frank Chapman said:
"We are delighted to welcome Dave to BG. His wealth
of industry experience and expertise will stand him in
good stead for the opportunities and challenges that
lie ahead. He is a valuable and important addition to
the Group's Executive."
Dave's responsibilities cover BG's operations in the
Eastern Hemisphere, including the core areas of Kazakhstan
and India.
Prior to his role as Adviser to the Vice Chairman, Dave
was Texaco's Director of Strategic Management for the
worldwide upstream business, participating on the leadership
team that created a new global upstream strategy centred
on large scale projects and an increasing non-US investment
focus. In addition, Dave was also responsible for crafting
the internal and external messaging associated with Texaco's
upstream vision.
Dave has 20 years experience in the oil and gas industry,
covering a wide breadth of activities, notably in the
areas of exploration, commercialisation and operations.
Before joining Texaco's Worldwide Upstream team, Dave
held various senior management positions with Texaco,
focused on strategy, business development, operations
and performance management. Trained as a Petroleum Engineer,
he has held a variety of technical, surface and subsurface
engineering and management roles. Dave's development
experience includes engineering at the University of
Alabama and business strategy at MIT and both Harvard
and Stanford business schools.
Currently based in the US, Dave is relocating to the
UK with his family. He is 42 and married with two sons.
The appointment follows the move of David McManus, who
previously held the role, to the new position of Executive
Vice President, Skill centres, with responsibility for
a number of critical core functions, being established
as a distinct business within the company. Prior to this,
David has overseen the successful development of BG's
operations in the Eastern Hemisphere in a critical period
and will work closely with Dave Roberts during the transition.
