BG International Appoints Senior Management Team


BG International, formed by the merger of BG plc's International Downstream and Exploration & Production businesses, has appointed its senior management team, to work with President, Frank Chapman.

The three Executive Vice Presidents, General Counsel and Finance Director, who have collective responsibility for the overall performance of BG International, are:

Andy Barrett, formerly BG International Downstream's Vice President, Strategy, Development and Appraisal, with responsibility for strategic planning, portfolio and project appraisal and developing key gas chain initiatives. This included developing BG's international presence in South America, including the successful Comgas and Southern Cross pipeline bids. Andy has 20 years' downstream oil and gas experience with Shell and BG.

Glen Doughty joined BG Exploration and Production in 1997 as Senior Vice President, Operations, with responsibility for production operations, well engineering, logistics and health, safety and environmental performance. Glen has 20 years' exploration and production experience with ARCO, BP, Shell and BG.

Ted Trafford, formerly Senior Vice President for BG Exploration & Production, responsible for commercial activities, developing information management and examining the potential for gas trading in conjunction with other business units. He joined the former British Gas plc in 1995 as Managing Director, Asia Pacific and has 30 years' upstream and downstream experience with Shell, Mobil and BG.

William Friedrich, General Counsel for BG plc, has 25 years' experience with major international law firm, Shearman & Sterling, where he was a corporate partner, and with BG, which he joined in 1995. He has extensive experience in handling major international transactions, particularly in the areas of project development and project finance.

Jon Wormley, Finance Director for BG International, joined BG Exploration & Production in 1992. Formerly Finance Director for BG E&P, Jon has 28 years' experience with Phillips Petroleum and BG.

These five senior executives comprise the International Executive Committee, which has collective responsibility for BG International.

BG International has also appointed managers to 30 other senior posts within the new organisation, in the UK and overseas. These senior posts (Vice Presidents) have been divided into three groups within the new organisational structure.

In addition, Eddie Walshe is appointed Senior Vice President, Special Projects, with responsibility for BG International's plans to establish a material business in India based upon supplying liquefied natural gas from the Gulf to Pipavav in Gujarat State.

BG plc Executive Director, and President, BG International, Frank Chapman said: "These appointments represent a significant step towards BG International achieving the changes necessary for us to become a performance leader in the energy business, and realising our ambition of becoming the 'premier gas chain player'."

The formation of BG International was announced by BG plc on February 23 1999. The merged business will be principally engaged in the integrated development and supply of gas markets. Work is continuing on filling other posts within the organisation.
