BG Group recently undertook a programme with ProSearch, a specialist tracing company, to find lost shareholders. This programme is now closed.
The most common reasons for losing contact with shareholders are:
- shareholders moving home and not notifying their new address to either the Share Registrar or the Company;
- beneficiaries or executors of an estate are unaware of the holding; and
- shareholders forgetting about their shares or being uncertain about their holding.
If you have any queries about letters sent to you by ProSearch or you think you may have shares or uncashed dividends in BG Group, you should contact the Company's share Registrar, Equiniti.
Contact details for Equiniti can be found on the FAQs home page.
To reduce the chance of becoming disconnected from assets, BG Group recommends that shareholders opt to have dividends paid directly to their bank account. If they do this, shareholders will continue to receive dividends even if they do not notify the company of a change of address and it also makes the tracing process easier.
Having your dividends paid direct is easy and has a number of advantages for you:
- Firstly, the dividend will go into your account on payment date - there is no chance of it being delayed in the post and you do not have to wait for a cheque to clear;
- Secondly, the payment method is more secure than receiving a cheque through the post; and
- Thirdly, tax information about the dividend is sent direct to you at your registered address.
You can download a Request for Payment of Dividends Mandate form and post it to Equiniti, alternatively you can request a form from Equiniti.
