The Programme: A real world experience

Our two year graduate development programme has been designed to prepare you for an international career, and to help you get ahead quickly. You’ll have direct contact with our senior managers and business leaders, and you’ll enjoy exposure to our operations right across the gas supply chain.

Individually tailored to your needs, the exact nature of the programme will depend on the technical or commercial knowledge you acquired during your first or higher degree and any previous work experience. It depends also on the specific requirements of the roles to which you’re assigned and the path you want your future career to take.

At BG Group, we ensure that everyone has access to the guidance they need to develop their capabilities and progress their careers – we call this parenting. Everyone who joins us as a graduate will have the support of a personal mentor and a parent manager throughout their two years. The emphasis here is on learning mainly from a practical mix of hands-on and formal training, but with expert guidance throughout. After you’ve completed the programme, that support will continue.

We think it’s very important to give you as many different experiences as we can, so that you can swiftly become a well-rounded member of our team. This means international travel is guaranteed. We’ll also give you access to a broad spread of internal and external training courses and, where appropriate, actively encourage the pursuit of chartered or member status of relevant professional organisations.

We believe our graduate programme is a unique offering and that it will leave you exceptionally well placed for a successful international career. Put simply, if you join us, you can expect all of the following, and a whole lot more besides:

• Early responsibility – ours is a large global organisation and not only are we still growing, the pace of change here is very fast. As a graduate you’ll be involved in real projects from day one, so you can expect to learn a huge amount very quickly.
• Great support – life at BG Group is challenging, but you’ll have a Graduate Parent Manager to guide you through placements and to help you identify technical training.
• A strong network – with us, you’ll be part of a global graduate network. All of our graduates undergo the same two week induction and you’ll all meet again after 12 months to review your progress to date and plan your development for the future.
• International exposure – our two year programme is divided into three or four placements, at least one of which will be an overseas assignment.
• The perfect balance – our BG Group graduate development programme won’t spoon-feed you or wrap you in cotton wool, nor will it expose you to situations that will over-stretch you or mismatch your developmental needs. This is very much a real world experience.
