Our business is the discovery, extraction, transmission, distribution and supply of natural gas to existing and developing markets around the world. Our core skills include exploration and production, transmission through pipeline systems or LNG liquefaction and transport, as well as the creation and distribution of energy through gas-fired power generation:
Exploration & Production: BG Group explores, develops, produces and markets gas and oil around the world. We use our technical, commercial and gas chain skills to deliver projects at low cost while maximising the sales value of our hydrocarbons.
Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG): Our activities combine the development of LNG liquefaction and regasification facilities with the purchasing, shipping and marketing of LNG.
Transmission & Distribution (T&D) and Power: Our T&D activites are focused in fast-growing markets, developing both markets and infrastructure for the delivery of gas. In the Power segment, BG Group develops, owns and operates a number of gas-fired power generation plants.

BG Group has a differentiated strategy and a fresh approach – we begin by looking at markets where we will be able to sell hydrocarbons (rather than the conventional model of beginning with the hydrocarbons and then looking for a market.)
We secure competitively priced gas and connect it to high value markets. BG Group has the skills and experience to compete right across the gas chain, from the hydrocarbon reservoir beneath the ground to the burner tip.
This strategy has proved highly successful in terms of adding value to the business. More than that, it’s enabled us to achieve consistent, industry leading growth for more than 10 years.
In terms of our geographic presence, we’ve built up an established positions in in the US, Trinidad and Tobago, Egypt, Kazakhstan and the UK. Combined with our long-term supply contracts and international gas marketing expertise, this ensures we have a competitive advantage in these core markets.
We also have established interests in the developing markets of South America, Asia and Australia, and by exploring new and future opportunities, these areas offer us huge long-term growth potential.
