We encourage everyone to take advantage of the wide range of support and training available within BG Group.
We run a large number of internal courses, while on-the-job coaching and development is the norm. We support study for external qualifications or accreditation, where relevant, and there are established skills networks where you can learn from, and exchange ideas with, some of the best minds in the industry.
Many of our learning and development resources are available online and accessible from most BG Group offices around the world. Those in technical functions will also have access to an online competency tool. This allows employees to compare their existing knowledge and skills with those required in other roles that may be of interest, so employees can better identify any development areas they need to focus on.
We also ensure that everyone has access to guidance and leadership within their function, to help them develop their capabilities and progress their careers. In BG Group we call this Parenting.
In addition, every BG Group employee has an Annual Development Review and an Annual Performance Review. In the Annual Development Review the emphasis is on long-term capability, looking into the potential of long-term career paths. The Annual Performance Review, on the other hand, is a chance for you and your manager to discuss immediate development needs and set targets against which incentive awards are then aligned.
