Why BG Group?
At the beginning, I looked at BG Group as one of the fastest growing companies in the oil and gas industry, which could introduce good opportunities for new staff. I wasn’t disappointed and found the Company to be very compatible with my ambitious career development plan.
As my background is petroleum engineering and my past experience is in reservoir engineering, when I was offered the job as a petroleum engineer, it didn’t take me long to realise it was a good career move. I was assigned to a new initiative Integrated Asset Modelling (IAM) which opens up a wider scope in petroleum and production engineering, with great exposure to the commercial and economic areas.
Where do you fit in?
Petroleum engineering, which includes reservoir engineering, production technology and petrophysics, is mainly responsible for developing BG Group fields. Reservoir engineering involves looking after reservoir performance and management, while production technology involves looking after wells sand face completion plus wells and pipeline management, using the latest technology.
What would I need to do your job?
Working as a petroleum engineer in BG Group will give you a great opportunity and exposure to the latest top niche technology, as well as a very good working environment. You’ll need to be ready to take on new information and to meet lots of new faces from day one.
And the highlights?
The responsibility and exposure to different technical challenges in different areas in both oil and gas fields like tight gas, carbonate and deep water are the most enjoyable challenges
What’s the work environment like?
Team work is key in BG Group where I work, so co-operation among members helps improve delivery and makes the job much more enjoyable.
