There are a number of reasons I chose BG Group – its reputation, the company’s size, growth and future challenges, as well as the fact it operates across the gas chain as a whole. Having significant experience in the exploration and production part of the business before joining in, a straightforward move was to remain within that very business segment.

Where do you fit in?

The business area I am working in produces gas as well as associated condensates. The gas is then made available into the national domestic gas grid.

What would I need to do your job?

You have to be ready for real challenges, not necessarily ones you have been used to so far. There are advantages as well as drawbacks from that, but if you can manage pressure adequately then you’ll be fine. You would also have to be hard working because the amount of deliverables is significant and expectations are very high.

And the highlights?

There is nothing specific, but more a plethora of experiences I have enjoyed very much, including working internationally, added responsibility, exposure to senior management in the Company as well as simply walking down all types of sites like construction, drilling rigs and production facilities. As far as I am concerned, one very positive aspect is the family size of the organisation when compared to other “majors”.

What's the work environment like?

I am working in an environment where the pace and energy levels are high. The good thing is that I am working closely with like minded colleagues and, while being responsible and free to do the work in my own way to some extent, I do receive clear direction and support from senior management.

Has BG Group met your expectations?

To be honest, I did not expect the level of challenges I get, but that’s the way the Company works. Having said that, BG Group is a company that really cares for and takes care of its employees. I am definitely proud to be part of the organisation and really feel part of its success.
