Throughout your graduate development programme, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to attend both internal and external training courses along with industry conferences. You’ll undertake four very different and challenging roles in just two years, so you can expect unrivalled variety and an excellent platform on which to build your future career.
Support Structure
Your mentor will prepare a Competence Development Plan (CDP) which will be agreed with the Head of Function or your Parent Manager. The Head of Function will be responsible for organising assignments that will give you access to the range of experiences you need to develop these competencies.
Geoscience Training Alliance
BG Group was a founder member of the Geoscience Training Alliance (GTA), administered by Nautilus (www.nautilusworld.com). It has a current membership of over 40 companies. Nautilus delivers over 150 courses per year in geoscience and engineering, from foundation to advanced level, across North America, Europe and South East Asia. The courses offered are both field and classroom based, and cover every discipline you might come across in your career. The independent nature of Nautilus allows the GTA to secure world leaders in each discipline to teach the courses, and keep them coming back year after year.
During your graduate development programme, you’re likely to see several different aspects of geoscience within BG Group. If you’re undertaking placements in producing assets or new ventures exploration, clastics or carbonates, or are brand new to rock physics and more, then there will be a course to suit you. Most graduates attend three or four GTA courses per year and look for the most appropriate to help them develop in their current placement. After you finish the scheme and become an experienced professional, you’ll still have access to the GTA.
Internal Training Courses
In addition to the GTA, BG Group maintains an active internal training schedule. Introductory courses to BG Group's software suite are regularly run in-house, as well as short half or one day courses run by specialists within BG Group. These courses are very accessible and highly relevant to your role in BG Group.
The geoscience community holds regular forums and workshops to communicate their experiences and findings to colleagues and participation is encouraged from your first day. An annual BG Group Subsurface Forum provides an opportunity for the global geoscience and engineering community to network and share knowledge from their experiences. BG Group's internal technical journal, 'Basin and Reservoir', showcases best practice evaluation and innovation across the subsurface community.
